Windmill Scene
Beautiful John Constable, famous 18th Century Suffolk, England artist, transfer brooch pin, on bone china, in a gold tone oval framed design with ornate prong settings and top bow pin. Brooch is a large statement piece and measures 2 3/4 inches long and is 1 5/8 inches wide.
The scene is striking…a tall windmill against a clouded sky with a red roofed barn in the background and lush grass and water bank in the foreground. The colors are vivid, yet moody.
John Constable, born 11 June 1776 – died 31 March 1837) was an English Romantic painter. Born in Suffolk, England he is known principally for his landscape paintings of Dedham Vale, the area surrounding his home, now known as "Constable Country".
This is a unique and rare costume jewelry piece. Estate collection. It would make an interesting piece to add to your own vintage costume jewelry collection.
