As a member of LaBelle, led by Patti, they achieved No. 1 in the US in 1974 and became a sensation with "Lady Marmalade." The song was revived in 2001 with a cover by Christina Aguilera and others, which is still fresh in my memory. However, back in the original's heyday, I was mostly listening to fusion, so I bought this album later with almost no prior knowledge. Revisiting it for this listing, I made some surprising discoveries. Thinking about it, just like in the group's era, the approach is more "Rock" than "R&B," and in this work, you can hear the AOR-like backing sound throughout. According to my materials, she went solo in '78, and this is likely her third album, a rare release from 1981. If you're interested, please take a look.
